Day 1—Thursday, January 23
Lifetime Achievement Awards

Roland and DW presented Lifetime Achievement Awards to music legends Patrice Rushen and Sheila E. in recognition of their invaluable contributions to the music industry while using Roland and DW gear throughout their careers.

Rushen accepted her award, commenting, “It is an honor to be the recipient of Roland’s Lifetime Achievement Award this year. As a musician who plays keyboards, composes, and writes songs, I am attracted to interesting sounds. The extensive line of Roland keyboard instruments has continually offered unlimited possibilities, whether in re-creating the characteristics of existing instruments or discovering sonic color combinations. These amazing instruments give my creative thoughts wings.”

Adrian Lyles on V-STAGE

The V-STAGE was front and center during several performances, including singer-songwriter, pianist, and actor Adrian Lyles’ set with the keyboard on the eve of his first solo tour. The young rising star gave online attendees a glimpse into what’s on repeat within his headphones lately. “Forget Me Nots” by Patrice Rushen,” Lyles grinned, barely containing his excitement about meeting the Lifetime Award honoree.

Bandcamp Sessions ft. illuminati hotties

In partnership with Bandcamp, Los Angeles-based indie rock powerhouse illuminati hotties performed with their signature high-energy, “tenderpunk” sound. “Tenderpunk is an ethos, lifestyle. It’s a little punk, but it’s also sweet and emotional,” explained band lead Sarah Tudzin.

Bubby Lewis & Friends

Bubby Lewis is a world-renowned musician and composer who has collaborated with a diverse range of artists, including Snoop Dogg, Stevie Wonder, Dr. Dre, and Quincy Jones. He shocked the crowd by bringing his friend Lupe Fiasco to the stage for an all-star set.

Lewis explained how the surprise collaboration happened. “I saw [Lupe Fiasco] walking downstairs. He was like, ‘Hey man, you playing anywhere?’ Then I saw him standing on the side of the stage, and I said, ‘You wanna rap?’ That’s a legendary rapper. He is so respected by all the greats. That dude is so lyrical. I’ve been playing with him for years, like fifteen-plus years. He’s like my brother.”

Art and Impact of Collaboration in Music Production

Collaboration is at the core of every great record. During the Roland Art and Impact of Collaboration in Music Production panel, Grammy-nominated engineer and vocal producer Simone Torres led a discussion with a diverse lineup of industry experts, exploring the creative and technical collaboration process from start to finish. With perspectives from engineers, producers, artists, and innovators, this panel highlighted how different voices and roles come together to shape the music we love.

Simone Torres Playlist Jam

She has worked with a wide range of artists, including Becky G, Cardi B, Camila Cabello, Monsta X, Jessie J, Billy Porter, The Backstreet Boys, and Dua Lipa.

The artist offered some insight into her single, “Up.” “You know those people that claim they’re going to do all these things to change, to be the person you deserve? If you’re going to say you’ll do all these things, then do it. And if not, please leave me alone,” she laughed before launching into the song.

Online viewers received access to a backstage conversation with Baxter, where he shared his wildest moment on stage. “I was doing a gig with Steely Dan, playing out of a couple of Marshall amplifiers. Something happened, and all the B+ voltage went to ground—threw me thirty feet across the stage back into the drums. I was unconscious for half an hour.”

Day 3—Saturday, January 25
